First Action Plan on Active and Healthy Ageing published

The Active and Healthy Ageing Action Plan 2023-2026 was published in Diário da República.
It contains 83 measures and 135 activities, based on six main pillars, the main priorities of which are:
Health and well-being Promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing disease Strengthening the home and community care network Empowering and improving the working conditions of formal and informal carers
Autonomy and independent living Minimising the impacts of isolation Collaborative housing and other models of autonomy preservation Differentiated home care Safe and accessible environments
Development and lifelong learning Promotion of reskill and upskill programs
Healthy working life Greater reconciliation of work and family life Transition to retirement Promoting intergenerational diversity at work
Income and the economy of ageing Valuation of pensions Pension supplement
Participation in society Volunteering, political life, active involvement
The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, highlights that "it is the first time that we have an Agenda for the promotion of active and healthy ageing in Portugal, built together between the various areas. It is a plan focused on integrated responses to People and promotion of autonomy and independence, with concrete measures, including the promotion of collaborative housing solutions, lifelong skills reconversion programmes, the creation of a network of 65+ managers.
