Since September 2022, Social Security has been paying the Crèches and Family Crèchesthe Solidarity Network, as well as Social Wet nurses, to children born on or after 1 September 2021, including food, hygiene, pedagogical, playful and motricity activities, registration and insurance, and extended hours. Similarly, all children in the 1st and 2nd income brackets of the family contribution, regardless of their age, continue to benefit from free of charge.

Since 1 January 2023, the measure of free of charge also reaches children born from 1 September 2021, who wish to attend the Private-profit and solidarity network nurseries without cooperation agreement, located in municipalities where there are no free places of the solidarity network with cooperation agreement or of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML). Through the application for the Adherent Crèches Scholarship, the crèches of the lucrative network and the solidarity network without agreement can join the measure, providing free places for children and complementing the offer of crèches in territories where the solidarity network is in full use. When the offer of the solidarity network with agreement or SCML is exhausted, it is activated the extension of the free of charge to the participating crèches. The assessment of the lack of free places is carried out according to the nursery rooms.

This free of charge will accompany the child during the years in which he attends the Crèche.
