The Government launched the tender for the conclusion of association contracts with a view to opening more than 12,000 vacancies in the pre-school education network, most of them in the Greater Lisbon region.

This number of vacancies results from an estimate of the cross between registrations on the Registration Portal and the forecast of the classes that will be constituted in the public network and in the Private Institutions of Social Solidarity (IPSS), thus updating the list of parishes with lack of supply.

With this competition, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation believes that it is possible to respond faster to the needs of children and families and accelerate progress towards the universality of Pre-School from the age of 3, provided for in the Program of the XXV Constitutional Government.

The 12,475 vacancies in the contest are distributed in 65 municipalities, the majority (8,965) in the Greater Lisbon region.

According to the invitation to tender, there are 10 parishes where more than 200 vacancies are missing – half of them in the municipality of Sintra – and more than 30 where between 100 and 175 places are missing.

Private and cooperative educational establishments that are installed and operating in a geographical area corresponding to parishes adjoining those identified, according to the notice of invitation to tender, may also apply.

This contest runs until 6:00 p.m. on July 17, and the IPSS will have its own contest to launch also during this month.

The amount of the financial contribution is allocated per child, corresponding to 208.05 euros, and there is also an incentive of 15 thousand euros of financial contribution in the event of the opening of a new room.
