Personalisation and active ageing: new rules to promote quality in homes
14/11/2023
The Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI) will have new rules, with the aim of promoting the personalization of care and promoting active and healthy aging.
A ordinance amending the requirements to be met by households was published on November 13 in the Diário da República, now determining the creation of Individual Care Plans for residents in households - plans that must be monitored, monitored and evaluated continuously, in order to ensure the quality of the services provided, adapting them to the needs of each person. The document sets out the rights and duties of persons residing in ERPIs, as well as their family members and reference persons.
For the provision of care, each residential structure should provide initial and continuous training appropriate to the functions of the workers, including through the Active Ageing Competence Centre.
The ordinance simplifies the rules for homes up to 20 people.
"With this change we take a structural step, focusing on the quality of the service provided, the promotion of active and healthy ageing and the personalization of services," said Ana Mendes Godinho, Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security.
