Happy Crèche - New Crèche Vacancy Application System

Since April 9, 2026, the requests for vacancies in crèches covered by the Gratuity Measure, have been made exclusively online, through the Social Security Portal. The new system aims to simplify and make more transparent the application process for families, covering children up to 3 years of age who attend crèches and family nurseries of the solidarity network, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, Amas da Segurança Social and crèches of the public and private networks adhering to the measure. Registrations made in person before the entry into force of the new procedure and already confirmed by the crèches of the social and solidarity sector will be considered, without the need to submit a new online application. The allocation of vacancies continues to respect legally defined priority criteria, namely for children with disabilities, recipients of social benefits, belonging to single-parent or large families, with siblings in the same crèche or whose guardians reside and work in the area of influence of the establishment. All applications must be submitted through the Social Security Portal, where supporting information is also available and a video explanatory information on the application process.
